Expectations

No student was ever coerced, cajoled, or nagged into classes. We do not proselytize; you will never find us at your front door drawling: "Have you accepted Cernunnos into your life as your personal Lord and Savior?"

That means students are here of their own free will. We therefore expect them to be fully prepared for classes, to be on time, to be polite and to be 'proper.'

They will have one class a week, every week, till initiation. No more than three absences are tolerated. A student that leaves class (properly) must start at the very beginning, the Intro class.

This might seem rigid to some. Good. One night a week is not much to ask.

So, we ask for more. We have fundraisers every Saturday night - sometimes they are parties, sometimes lectures or 'craft' nights - times to make those tools not commonly available.

Fundraisers also help temple members from all classes get to know each other. They also, of course, help pay rent.

We also have Sabbat practice, and Sabbat. Sabbats are always held on the Saturday nearest the correct Sabbat date. Sabbat practices are always the Sunday before. Both are mandatory!

Does this sound like a lot? We don't think so. Wicca is not a hobby or pastime, it is a way of life. The only way to be a witch is to do it - OFTEN!

We expect students to act like adults - speak well, be courteous and helpful. We tolerate no gossip or head games, cliques or bickering. Arguing, violence and other nasty interactions are strictly forbidden.

We (the instructors) teach for free. We answer questions, try to solve problems and accept karma for teaching as many people as are willing to do the work.

Some of us teach more than one class. We substitute for other teachers. We organize fundraisers, Sabbats, etc.

We also attend classes of our own according to our degree. Everyone is a student at the Temple.

We have done everything our students must do. We do more. We do it without pay. So, to come to class unprepared, to blow off practice or whatever is wasting our time.

As long as a class is more than half present, there will be class. Class is not cancelled when instructors are sick; we get substitutes.

We follow the credo "Those who can, teach." Not if we want, not if we feel like it, but if we can.

Students can be confident that the Temple will be here for them for the long haul.
